Comfort and Judgement – Gene Bawden

A month or so ago I went to the opening of Gene Bawden’s exhibition Comfort and Judgement. A beautiful and thought-provoking exhibit, I find it still lingering with me…

Whilst exploring Australian interiors of the 19th Century, it brought to life the lives and experiences of these places, particularly for women as their enforced domain and sole preoccupation was often to ‘decorate’ their houses and therefore be judged on their sense of taste.
