My rusty (or never-learnt) Latin suggests the title translates roughly to: And in the land of Liberty I (am).
A room – and exhibition – I nearly stumbled past in my awe and enjoyment of Mona. I was glad I found my way, and went exploring into the darkness to find the second room.
The sense was of walking into paradise (or a tropical island) at night; where boats are stranded, trees are lit by moonlight and a simple lone shack stands.
The stories of travel and exploration, the lives of islanders and the idea of freedom – liberty – paradise. All intriguing and evocative.
I like to explore the questions it arises around freedom and paradise.
